Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect during the initial appointment?
At our first session, you can expect to be welcomed into a caring environment and treated with compassion and respect. At your own pace, you will be able to talk about what brought you in for support, and formulate some goals. This is an opportunity for us to get a sense of what it’s like for us to work together. If, at any point, we decide for any reason that your needs would be better served by someone else, we will certainly provide a qualified referral.
How long will it take?
The length of treatment depends on your individual needs. You and your clinician will regularly discuss progress toward your goals, and discuss whether you feel continuing would be helpful to you.
What about medications?
If you are on medication, we will discuss that as part of your treatment, ongoing. If medication seems like it may be helpful, we will discuss your options and provide related referrals. There are other holistic options we are happy to discuss with you within the scope of our experience; but the final choice is always yours.
Do you take credit cards, or can I use my Health Savings Account (HSA)?
We do accept payment by cash check, MasterCard, Visa, or American Express. If your HSA card has one of these logos on it, it is likely that we will be able to accept it. We will work with you to ensure that you get the therapy you need, now.
What does it cost?
The session fee is $225-300 per 50-min individual session; 75-minute couples and family session fee is $325-$400, all are by appointment only. Sessions are usually weekly, but we will develop a schedule based on your needs.
Do you provide any specialized services?
We offer several workshops, including “Hold Me Tight” sessions, “Marriage on Purpose” Premarital Seminars, and Intensive, Customized weekend sessions with an experienced, compassionate clinician. Your comfort is paramount to us; tell us what you need, and we will do our best to create something for you.
Will my insurance pay for my sessions?
We are out-of-network providers for most health insurance companies. This means that you submit the fee up front, and then get reimbursed by your health insurance provider. Please contact us for more information about how to get reimbursed by your health insurance company.
How can I check my clinician’s license status?
To check the license status of any Licensed MH professional in NY state, you can go to http://www.op.nysed.gov/, the website for the Office of the Professions, a New York state agency governing several types of licensed mental health professionals. If you click on my license number at the top of this site, you’ll be taken directly to the “license search” page.
